It’s impossible to be bored in Pietrasanta, there’s always something to see or do: fairs, markets, events and shows, theatre, exhibitions and cultural events. The great Italian poet Giosuè Carducci, came from these parts and often praised the local people and their ways in his works. Above Pietrasanta lies the Rocca di Sala, an ancient Ghibelline fortress dating back to the Lombards. In Pietrasanta itself you can visit the Rocchetta Arrighina, built by Castruccio Castacani in the 14th century for his son Arrigo. Charming and original boutiques dot the centre of town offering clothes, accessories and interior design, next to beautiful contemporary art galleries representing the artistic vibrancy of the area.
